India is holding regular talks with the Russian authorities for the discharge of nearly 50 Indian nationals who were tricked into fighting for the Russian Army in the ongoing Ukraine conflict, the Ministry of External Affairs said Thursday.
At a media briefing here, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said a total of 45 Indians nationals have already been discharged by the Russian Army. Out of them, six returned to India two days back. Some more people, he said, are expected to return home in the coming days.
”Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also taken up this issue with President Putin during his visit to Moscow in July. We are trying our best for their early discharge by the Russian Army,” he added.
